Ethan's First Kick!

This week has been pretty exciting around the Davis household. On Tuesday, June 19th, I felt Ethan really kick for the first time. I was 21 weeks pregnant and it was such an obvious kick that it jolted me out of bed. I asked Todd "was that you?" He laughed and said that he didn't move and was just watching TV. So, then we both waited for some more kicks. Boy, was he really moving around that night! It was like he was doing somersaults in there. One second on the right side, then 30 seconds later on the left, then up, then down. It was such an awesome feeling to actually feel him and I just wanted to blog about it before I forget the actual day and how far along I am. We went to bed pretty late that night because for 30 minutes we were just in awe of our little boy. Who can go to bed when Ethan is up partying? :)

Today marks the start of my 22nd week. The time is really flying by now. It goes by so slow those first 3 months and then all of a sudden you can't stop the clock. I haven't really had any cravings that have lasted more than a fleeting moment. I hear of some pregnant people that crave something for a long time during their pregnancy - like ice, fruit juice, ice cream, etc. Mine have been like fleeting thoughts. For example, for like 2 weeks, I wanted Hibachi. All I could think about was having it. Then, after having it like 3 times, I couldn't care less about it. Same with a chicken salad sandwhich. I wanted the one from Panera so bad and then I had that about 3 times and again, I didn't really care about it anymore. Those are the only two things I can think of.  The weird thing that I do have is a congested nose in the morning. From like 8-9 am, I am constantly blowing my nose. In the first trimester, I even had a bloody nose! The doctor said it was quite normal in pregnancy. Who would have thought?

Also, 2 weeks ago we went to our 20 week anatomy scan appointment and that was really neat. They really check for everything and with God's good grace, everything looks healthy with Ethan and with me.  He was weighing in the 50th percentile. I can't wait to see what he weighs at our next appointment on July 16th to see how much he has grown and what his new percentile will be.

This weekend Todd will be putting the crib together (thanks to Dad and Paula for getting it for us!) so another thing to cross off our checklist. The dresser came assembled already, so no work there. (Thanks to Aunt Caren and Uncle Frank for that purchase too!)

One million more things to do......oh, but it is the sweetest checklist ever! :) I leave you with some pictures...

My wonderful mom and I

Todd loves photography and told me to put my necklace by my growing belly. After all, the baby has my heart already!

Marianne is saying get me out of this trunk! Mommy is saying "just for the picture Marianne"

The vintage sports trunk to put all his toys in. Marianne is very mad at us and giving us the doggy stare. :)

Nursery - Phase II - wood floors and crown molding

This past weekend was very busy. On Saturday, we had the workers come to install the hardwood floors and do the crown molding. Todd was able to stay home as they worked on the nursery. The floors look amazing!! It really gives the room a very elegant feel and with all the extra moldings we did, it is turning out really great. I can't wait to get the furniture in there and start decorating.

While Todd was at home, I went ahead and met up with my dear friend Lana who lives in Tampa and she was staying at Reunion Resort (right outside of Orlando) for a mini-getaway with her family. We had a nice time lounging by the resort pool and having lunch. It was very nice to catch up with her and her husband and see their two beautiful kids.

Then, on Sunday we had breakfast with my Dad for Father's Day. It is always nice when we can get together and catch up with each other. It was a beautiful day outside and Todd and I enjoyed our morning with him.

Below are the pictures from the nursery. Please excuse the quality. It was nighttime and I only used my digital camera. I didn't use my professional SLR camera.  Next up - having the built in closet organizer installed! Stay tuned!
