Wonderful visit with my best friend Mary from high school!

A few weeks ago I met up with my best friend Mary from high school. She was in town and I met up with her at the hotel they were staying at. I got to meet her twins - Dylan and Ashlan! They were so cute!! This was a very special visit because we haven't seen each other for a long time because she moved to Europe with her husband. In 2010, when we went to Europe, they were living in Belgium and they were going to fly to Lake Como, Italy to meet up with us. However, the logistics became a little too difficult because they were in the midst of moving to Prague. Then, we planned another get together in 2011 when Todd and I were back in Europe again. They were going to fly from Prague to the Amalfi Coast to spend a few nights with us, but Mary became pregnant and obviously that trip didn't pan out. Well, lo and behold, I was so thrilled to learn that she was going to be in town and we would finally see each other. It is amazing how we just picked up from where we left off - like no time has passed. She is a very special friend to me. We have so many wonderful memories from high school together and we visited each other in college and after college. Then, she moved to Baton Rouge and was so sweet and flew in for my wedding. When she was pregnant in Prague it was hard but we stayed in contact via email and she kept me updated on all the details. I just wanted to hug her and let her know that I was there for her during the pregnancy.

Mary and I were like two peas in a pod during high school. We spent countless hours at her house getting ready for parties together - making sure our hair was perfectly straightened, outfits were stylish, and just giggling over any silly gossip that was going on that week. Oh, how we thought our lives were so stressful back then! The great news is that Mary is moving back to the States. Her husband works for Exxon and they are moving back to Washington, DC on July 1st. So, it will be so much easier for us to visit each other. I know it is still a plane ride away, but at least it is not a 12 hour plane ride to Eastern Europe. :)  I leave you with a recent picture of our visit from 2 weeks ago and a picture from back in our college days....
