Todd and I figured that we can have a playroom for Ethan and that can be the room with all the crazy colors and plastic toys. On Saturday, I felt a little guilty. Todd didn't want me around the paint fumes, so he sent me off to the spa for the day. He is such a great hubbie! I got a massage and a facial. When I returned home, they were still hard at work. The guilt got worse. haha. So, I offered my services to cook up a nice meal for the two of them. Todd said that he wanted to get out of the house, so we went to dinner.
On Sunday, the painting was complete and then began the work on the chair rail and wainscoting. One of my favorite things on a home is the wainscoting squares painted in stark white. I love the victorian look to it with the paint above it. I was so excited to come home that day to see how it looked! Boy, did it look good! Ethan is going to have the nicest bedroom in the house. Again, for dinner that night we went out. We decided to try the new MVP and found it to be pretty good. Todd, Jacki, and I met up with my aunt and uncle and I had a pecan salad. I have to say I enjoyed it.
On Monday, Memorial Day, Todd and Jacki started the day by finishing those little last details with the chair rail caulking, etc. I actually helped a little on this day and Marianne was in the room the entire time too. She is so funny! She will literally sit where you are painting and not move. You almost have to force her out of relaxation if you need to change positions or something. I believe we were done around noon and we headed over to my Aunt Caren's house for a BBQ for my mom's birthday. We had a lovely BBQ and then some cake to celebrate.
I am so appreciative that Todd and my mother in law got everything done in one weekend! They worked so hard and had a good time doing it too. So, some work, some play, and a little bit of birthday cake was a good way to celebrate Memorial Day! Stay tuned. Next up is hardwood floors and crown molding. The only difference is that we are paying someone to do that work for us. Todd works so many hours in his career and he just wanted to watch someone else do the labor while he sits back and enjoys his weekend. I don't blame him! Daddy deserves it.

I enjoyed every minute of the weekend!! Love you guys... Mom
ReplyDeleteThe color is just gorgeous! I wish we could have painted the girls room, but since we live on base, it was not a good idea.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished nursery!
Love you guys!
